Rolling Meadows' standout Christie notches 2,000th career point

A deep 3-point basket by Max Christie sent the Rolling Meadows boys basketball star to his 2,000th career point total Saturday in Hoffman Estates.

Christie came into the game needing 20 points to hit that magic number. After scoring 13 points through the first 2½ quarters, Christie scored 7 consecutive points late in the period to reach the milestone.

"It feels great," said Christie, a Michigan State signee. "To be able to reach such a milestone especially during this odd season, it means a lot to achieve it."

After he drilled the 3-pointer, Christie was taken out of the game. Hoffman Estates made an announcement acknowledging Christie's scoring mark.

"This is a huge accomplishment for Max," Rolling Meadows coach Kevin Katovich said. "And it should be no surprise to anyone that he acknowledged all his teammates for it."

Christie now stands just 73 points shy of becoming the all-time leading scorer in the Mid-Suburban League.

Rolling Meadows won Saturday's MSL crossover game with Hoffman Estates 78-48 to improve to 10-0 on the season.
