Maine West's Dugalic picks up Ms. Basketball award

Maine West senior Angela Dugalic has added another entry to her list of awards.

Late Friday, it was announced that Dugalic has been named Illinois' Ms. Basketball for the 2019-20 season.

The voting was conducted by a statewide media panel and coordinated by the Chicago Tribune.

The only Illinois girls player named a McDonald's All-American and the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year, Dugalic is the second Maine West girl to earn the Ms. Basketball award. Nancy Kennelly won the honor in 1988.

Dugalic, a 6-foot-4 Oregon signee who averaged 20.6 points per game and 10.3 rebounds for the 30-4 Warriors this past season, garnered 166 points and 24 first-place votes of the 66 ballots cast.

She finished her Maine West career with 1,782 points and 1,067 rebounds.

Lake Park senior Darrione Rogers, who will play at DePaul next year, was second in the voting with 84 points and 8 first-place votes.

Morgan Park's Adam Miller won the Mr. Basketball award with 142 points and 21 first-place votes, narrowly beating out Whitney Young's DJ Steward (140 and 19).

Rolling Meadows junior Max Christie was third in the boys' voting.
