Jarrell leads Vernon Hills past Niles North

Daniella Jarrell had a game-high 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals, and Vernon Hills' girls basketball team defeated visiting Niles North 48-30 in Central Suburban League North Division action on Friday night.

Vernon Hills (16-10, 7-4) jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed. Brynn Ziemke scored 5 of her 7 points in the opening quarter for the Cougars, who snapped a two-game losing streak.

"We came out and controlled the first quarter and kept it going in the second," Vernon Hills coach Paul Brettner said. "We defended very well and that carried over to the offensive side."

Sophomore Aliyah Kvamme had 10 points for Niles North (6-21, 1-10).

Stevenson 56, Mundelein 33: Avery King led all scorers with 24 points, as the visiting Patriots won the North Suburban Conference game.

Ava Bardic added 14 points for Stevenson (23-7, 9-4).

Morgan Frank and Allison Binz scored 14 and 10 points, respectively, for Mundelein (7-21, 2-11).
