Glenbard East's DaRon Hall is this week's Daily Herald boys basketball MVP.
DaRon Hall, Glenbard East: The returning all-Upstate Eight guard scored 58 points in two victories last week. He scored 27 points in the Rams' 96-62 win over Streamwood. The next night the 6-foot-1 senior put up 31 points with 9 rebounds in a 66-41 win over Perspectives-Lead. Hall made 20 of 24 free throws on the weekend.
Shamaree Brown, Schaumburg: The Saxons' 6-foot-3 senior had a career night in a 54-39 Mid-Suburban West win over Conant, scoring a career-best 21 points. The next afternoon, with teammate and Wisconsin commit Chris Hodges out with illness, Brown came back with another 21 points to lead his team to a 48-40 win over Huntley, a victory that put Schaumburg at 6-0 for the season.
Deveauntay McNeal, Round Lake: The Panthers entered the season having not won a conference game in almost five years. The junior guard/forward ended the drought with authority. He had 20 points, 16 rebounds and 6 steals, as the Panthers opened Northern Lake County Conference action with a 65-47 win over Antioch. Earlier in the week, he posted 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals against Elmwood Park.
Luke Scheffers, St. Charles North: This 6-foot-1 senior was the leading scorer in 3 wins for the 6-1 North Stars. The fourth-year varsity guard scored 19 points in a 47-40 win at DeKalb, he posted 8 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter of a 50-45 DuKane Conference win at Wheaton North and he contributed 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in a 45-27 nonconference home victory over South Elgin.
