Outlook: In only its fourth season as a member of the IHSA, Schaumburg Christian has had some success in state tournament action. The Conquerors are hoping to extend that this season but will need to overcome the loss of four starters including Matthew Winters, who averaged 22 points and 3 assists per game last season. Coach Kyle McVey will be looking for his lone returning starter, Nishal Weems, to pick up that scoring slack. "A lot of our offense last season came from Matthew," McVey said. "He will be tough to replace, along with the three other seniors we graduated. We are a young team this year with not a lot of experience, but we do have a lot of talent." Rishe Paridas, who is a sophomore, and juniors David Rodriguez and Bimi Adenekan will be counted on to pick up some of that scoring slack. McVey will also be buoyed by a pair of seniors who decided to play for the Conquerors this season. Chase Grada, who is 6-foot-5, and George Palmer, who is a guard, should be able to provide solid minutes along with Sean Macahon, Jonathan Devathala, Aaron Onesimus and freshman point guard Elijah Brown. "We will be a very balanced team this year on both sides of the court which should allow for better results," McVey said. "We have several juniors and sophomores who have put in a lot of work this summer and will be relied on heavily this year."
