Miller era at Prospect begins with a win

Sophomore guard Eliot Dojutrek began her varsity career with a team-high 16 points and senior forward Ashley Adams added 10 points with 3 rebounds to help lead Prospect to a 59-45 triumph over Niles West in an opening-round game of the York girls basketball tournament Monday.

The victory was the first for Knights coach Marie Miller, one of Prospect's all-time great centers who was named to take over the program last April.

Miller was the Knights' freshman coach last winter and had a brief midseason stint as the interim varsity coach when the team went 4-0 under her leadership.

The 2006 Prospect graduate also got 8 points from seniors Abbey Danciu and Helen Siavelis (two 3-pointers) and 7 apiece from senior Stephanie Kowalczyk and sophomore Mia Gusloff.

Senior Jessica Kowalczyk also hit a 3-pointer for Prospect, which trailed 15-12 after one quarter but led 25-21 at intermission.
