Coffaro, Hersey net OT victory
It required some extra effort, but Hersey's boys basketball team got the job done.
The visiting Huskies got a game-high 25 points from Joe Coffaro in earning a 68-59 overtime victory against Grayslake Central in a nonconference matchup Tuesday.
Grant Wagner contributed 18 points and Ken Hasley had 10 as Hersey improved its overall record to 15-9.
Jack Spaulding scored 22 points to lead the Rams, and Sidney Goodman had 14 points.
Rolling Meadows 56, Maine East 51: Senior guard Jack Schoessling scored 26 points, while forwards Brian Carney (9) and Jared Murphy (8) also helped carry the visiting Mustangs to a nonconference win.
Rolling Meadows (11-3) held Maine East to 9 points in the first half.
Bartlett 57, St. Viator 50: Jeremiah Hernandez scored a game-high 16 points and Marc Clark had 12 for the Lions, but the host Hawks picked up a nonconference win.
Clark hit a pair of 3s for St. Viator (9-15).
Bartlett was led in scoring by junior Ben Tompson (15 points).
Elk Grove 64, Glenbard East 48: The host Grenadiers picked up their first win of the season in a nonconference matchup.
Willowbrook 52, Leyden 48: The Eagles came close against the Warriors but dropped the West Suburban Gold matchup in Villa Park.
Maine West 63, Wheeling 51: The visiting Warriors improved to 15-7 overall with a nonconference victory over the Wildcats (10-14).
Christian Liberty 66, Islamic Foundation 60: The host Chargers had three players score in double figures in winning a nonconference decision against their opponent from Villa Park.
Brendan Munoz led the way with 22, while Steve Ringstrand had 15 and Jesse Castro 13.
