Prospect's win sets up East showdown

Prospect's boys basketball team clinched at least tie for the Mid-Suburban East title with a 77-45 victory at Elk Grove on Friday.

The Knights got to win No. 20 overall (with just 4 defeats) and improved to 8-1 in the MSL East.

Hersey is 7-2 in the league but still has a chance to represent the East in the MSL title game with a win in next Friday's divisional finale at Prospect.

Against Elk Grove, Frankie Mack scored a game-high 16 points, which included three 3s. Antonio Gardner had 15 points, which came on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting effort from the field and included two 3s.

Matt Szuba delivered 6 assists along with 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks for the Knights.

Elk Grove's top scorer was Dylan Ingebrigtsen, who finished with 14 points.

Marist 46, St. Viator 37: In a first-place showdown in the East Suburban Catholic Conference, the visiting Lions came away with a loss.

That leaves Marist (23-3, 6-1) alone in first place in the league, while St. Viator slipped to 9-14 and 5-2.

Buffalo Grove 71, Rolling Meadows 57: Mac Camardo and Chris Tsevis both finished with 20 points as the host Bison won their MSL East matchup.

Tsevis produced all his scoring in the first two quarters, canning six 3s and a 2-point field goal for his quick 20.

Demetri Lomnick finished with 9 points for Buffalo Grove (14-8, 6-3), and Colin Calcagno had 8.

Senior Jared Murphy led all scorers with 24 points for Rolling Meadows (10-13, 2-7), which also got 11 points from Marco Taibi and 8 from Jack Schoessling and Ryan Carney.
