Frazier's buzzer-beater lifts Batavia

Hannah Frazier scored at the buzzer Saturday morning to give Batavia a 43-42 win over DeKalb at the Montini Christmas tournament.

In the 8 a.m. start the Bulldogs got off to a slow start, giving up 18 points in the first quarter. They only allowed 24 points the final three quarters.

Batavia trailed by one point at halftime and was tied at 34 after three quarters. The Bulldogs did not give up a basket in the fourth quarter, but still trailed by 3 in the closing seconds.

With 14 seconds to play, Frazier scored to cut DeKalb's lead to 42-41. On the ensuing possession, Shea Bayram forced a jumpball, and Batavia gained possession.

With only 7 seconds to go, the Bulldogs had the ball back under their own basket. Jess Koch fed Frazier who put up the shot, and the ball went through the net as the buzzer sounded to give Batavia the win.

Frazier finished with 27 points to lead all scorers. Bethany Orman added 5 points with a pair of steals and a pair of assists. McKenzie Foster converted a couple key baskets in the second half and also added 6 rebounds.

Batavia (7-9) returns to action at 11:30 a.m. Monday against Zion-Benton.
