Palatine powers past Richards

Palatine improved to 2-0 by handling Richards 73-32 on Wednesday in the Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Classic hosted by the Pirates.

R.J. Smith (12 points) and Mikey Williams (10 points) led a balanced effort for Palatine, which took control with a 23-point second quarter and led 40-16 by the half.

Palatine meets York at 5:15 p.m. Friday; a victory would put the Pirates in Saturday's tournament championship game.

• Rolling Meadows (1-1) came up short in its second tournament game at Palatine, falling 66-44 to Deerfield.

The Mustangs got 14 points from Jared Murphy and stayed close until the fourth quarter, when Deerfield (1-1) outscored Rolling Meadows 19-6.

The Mustangs meet Tilden at 3:30 p.m. Friday as the tourney continues.

Hersey 70, Robeson 37: Joe Coffaro had a team-high 16 points as the Huskies improved to 3-0 in tournament play at Niles West and earned a title-game appearance against St. Patrick at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Payton Haas (15) had points and Josh Mailloux (11) also reached double figures for the Huskies.

Highland Park 55, Prospect 51 (OT): Kyle Beyak and Ernest Kiseliovas both scored in double figures and made four 3s apiece, but it wasn't enough to keep the Knights from dropping a second straight overtime decision in tournament play at St. Viator.

Beyak finished with 17 points and Kiseliovas had 14, and sophomore guard Frankie Mack had 13 points and made three 3s.

The Knights (1-2) conclude their tournament with a game against the host Lions at 3 p.m. Saturday.

At Maine West: King topped Alcott 65-34, and Maine South topped Libertyville 71-59. Maine West's next game is at 3:30 p.m. Friday against King.

At Buffalo Grove: Grayslake Central produced a big scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to top the host Bison 51-46, and Niles North was in command all the way in an 80-31 victory over Christian Liberty.

Colin Calcagno led all scorers for Buffalo Grove with 15 points against the Rams - all on 3s. Collin Dekorsi contributed 12 points for the Bison (0-2), who led by 1 point entering the fourth quarter.

Joey Mudd led Grayslake Central with 14 points.

Christian Liberty's Ben Kemper had a game-high 16 points, and Diondre Williams had 15 for Niles North.
