Collins leads Maine West victory

One game after joining Maine West’s elite club of 1,000-point scorers, Brittany Collins was adding to her total on Tuesday night.

The junior forward scored a game-high 12 points while also pulling down 11 rebounds as the Warriors girls basketball team topped Niles West 45-35 on Tuesday night in Des Plaines.

Junior guard Erin Ross chipped in 9 points with 3 3-point baskets for the Warriors (3-8) in the Central Suburban League crossover match.

Taylor Iaculla also hit a 3-pointer for the Warriors, who jumped ahead 18-7 and led 28-18 at the break.

Bartlett 44, Elk Grove 41: Senior DiamondBoyd (18 points) and junior Melissa Solorio (9) led the visiting Grenadiers (5-4) in the nonconference matchup.

Cary-Grove 56, Buffalo Grove 44: Top scorers for the Bison (2-7) were Bailey North (13 points), Amanda Salzman (8), Angela Budimir (7) and Julie Jambrone (7) in the nonconference game in Cary.

Salzman had 2 3-pointers for BG while Jambrone, Carly Cheever and North each had one.

Trinity 63, Schaumburg 36: Host Schaumburg (4-6) was led by Amanda Kelly (10 points, 2 3-pointers) and Carly Brossard (9) in the nonconference game.
