The only head coach in the six-year history of Grayslake North's girls basketball program has stepped down.
Jim Sarver has announced his resignation after leading the Knights to their best season.
Grayslake North had an unprecedented campaign, overcoming an 0-3 start to go 21-9, including 8-4 in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division, and for the first time winning both an in-season tournament (Northern Illinois Holiday Classic) and a regional championship. The Knights, whose win total was a school record, captured the Class 3A Chicago Northside regional title before losing to Grayslake Central in a semifinal of the St. Viator sectional. It was Grayslake North's third loss in as many games against its crosstown rival during the season.
Sarver went 64-108 in his six seasons. The previous school record for wins in a season was 12, accomplished both in 2007-08 and 2009-10.
"I feel blessed that I was able to work with such a great staff, great administration and great student athletes," Sarver said. "I wish the program great success in the future."
