Coach Joe Larson.
Last year 7-19, 5-9, tied for fifth in the DuPage Valley Conference; lost 64-52 to Glenbard West in the Class 4A Glenbard West regional quarterfinals.
Top players James Fleming, sr., G; Mike Carev, sr., G; Alex Smith, jr., F; Reggie Davis, sr., F; Bryan Kraus, sr., G; Brandon Metoyer, sr., G; Brandon Clark, jr., F; Anthony Keener, jr., G.
Scouting report Fleming, an All-Area honoree last season and a third-year starter, is primed for a big year as the leading returning scorer in the DVC with 17 points per game. Davis, Carev and Smith return 17 additional points, so expect significant overall improvement once the Panthers overcome the delayed debut of six players still competing in football. After shooting 42 percent from the field last year, that's a focal point of improvement along with taking better care of the ball. Rebounding and interior defense are other issues, especially with the 6-foot Davis considered a post player. The Panthers, though, should create their own matchup problems for opponents. "We're not very big, so we'll have to take advantage of our quickness," Larson said.
