Schmidt moves into 2nd on Burlington Central's all-time scoring list

Burlington Central 60, Crystal Lake Central 37: Kat Schmidt became Burlington Central's second all-time leading scorer with a 28-point, 11-rebound performance during the Rockets' 23-point Fox Valley Conference victory over Crystal Lake Central Saturday afternoon in Burlington.

Schmidt, a 6-foot senior guard/forward, passed Sam Pryor (1,484 points) for second place on the school's career scoring list and eclipsed the 1,500-point mark, trailing only Jenna Real's record 1,647 points.

Elana Wells added 9 points, 7 steals and 6 rebounds as the Rockets posted their 20th win of the season. Burlington is now 20-4 overall, 9-2 in FVC play.

Schmidt scored 20 of her points in the first half as the Rockets grabbed a 26-17 lead. Burlington sealed the victory by outscoring Crystal Lake Central 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

Katie Svigelj led the Tigers (3-13, 1-7) with 15 points while Paige Keller added 14 points.

Burlington visits FVC leader Dundee-Crown Wednesday.

Hampshire 43, Crystal Lake South 39: Hampshire evened the score with Crystal Lake South with its Fox Valley Conference victory over the Gators Saturday in Crystal Lake.

Alyssa Cork paced the Whip-Purs (12-11, 7-4) with 15 points, including five 3-pointers, while Jessica Dumoulin, Celli Ramirez, Veronica Walker and Kelby Bannerman each added 6 points.

Gaby Trier scored 12 points to lead the Gators (10-11, 5-6), while Emily Rich and Maddie Scharrenberg had 7 points apiece.

Hampshire, which dropped a 58-51 decision to the Gators last month, outscored Crystal Lake South 24-6 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Whip-Purs held the Gators to a pair of field goals in the third quarter and enjoyed a 19-14 edge in the second half.

South Elgin 65, Neuqua Valley 62: Megan McClure and Ella Winterhalder led a furious second-half comeback as the Storm (18-7) edged Neuqua Valley (10-13) in Saturday's Upstate Eight-DuPage Valley Conference Shootout held at East Aurora.

Trailing 25-14 at halftime, the Storm got back in the game with a 23-14 third-quarter surge and capped the rally with a 28-18 fourth-quarter run.

McClure scored a game-high 25 points, 10 of them coming in the fourth quarter. She hit 4 of her six 3-pointers during her 17-point second half.

Winterhalder added 18 points, all in the second half, including 10 points in the final period. She added three 3-pointers.

Madison Waichunas and Caroline Croft contributed 12 and 7 points, respectively.

Ellie Wisner led Neuqua with 22 points, including three 3-pointers during the Wildcats' 16-4 first-quarter tear. Claudia Gallegos added 18 points for the Wildcats.

Aurora Christian 75, Lisle 27: Anna Griffin poured in a game-high 26 points during Aurora Christian's nonconference rout of Lisle Saturday afternoon in Lisle.

Aspen Weeks and Lexi Lamanna added 16 and 10 points, respectively, as the Eagles improved to 21-3.

Aurora Christian got off to a great start, outscoring the Lions 24-3 in the first quarter before sealing the decision with a 25-1 third-quarter surge.

Hannah Baur scored 8 points for Lisle (21-5).

"This was an incredible team performance, holding a 21-win Lisle team to seven made field goals for the game," said Eagles coach Burney Wilkie.

Huntley 45, Cary-Grove 41: Kamsi Nwogu tallied 15 points as the Red Raiders (13-11, 7-4) swept their season series against Fox Valley Conference rival Cary-Grove with the narrow victory Saturday afternoon in Cary.

Raquel Radermacher finished with 13 points while Ashley Guazzo added 7 points for the Red Raiders, who edged the Trojans 42-36 earlier in the season.

With the loss, Cary-Grove slipped to 8-12, 1-10.

Sycamore 66, Kaneland 23: Iowa State-bound Kylie Feuerbach scored 23 points and her younger sister Faith chipped in with 14 points during Sycamore's 43-point triumph over Interstate Eight Conference rival Kaneland (15-10, 6-3) Saturday night in Sycamore.

The league-leading Spartans (16-6, 8-0) scored the game's first 11 points and never trailed the rest of the way, extending their lead to 26 points at halftime and 44 points after 3 quarters.

Kylie Holubecki led the Knights with 7 points while Taylor Carlson added 6.

Dundee-Crown 46, Prairie Ridge 38. The Chargers (19-5) ran their unbeaten streak to 11 in Fox Valley Conference action with their win over Prairie Ridge (10-12, 4-7). Trailing 20-18 at halftime, Dundee-Crown outscored Prairie Ridge 28-18 in the second half.

Metea Valley 44, Larkin 38. The Royals fell to 7-15 following their loss to Metea Valley (8-11) in Saturday's Upstate Eight-DuPage Valley Conference Shootout at East Aurora. The win snapped Metea's 5-game losing streak.
