Timothy Christian bounces back
After the tough game it had Thursday, Timothy Christian needed a pick-me-up Friday night.
The Trojans bounced back with a 54-7 girls basketball victory against IMSA at the Hoops Happening Tourney in Aurora.
"We have a young team, we're learning to play with each other again. A lot of new girls," said Trojans coach Michele Strube, whose team led Ottawa most of Thursday's game before losing.
Timothy Christian played four sophomores - Campbell Marshall, Sarah Carstensen, Hannah Schuringa and Sureya Alex - and all nine Trojans who played scored. The Trojans (2-1) made their first seven shots to take a 14-0 lead to start the game.
Carstensen led the Trojans with 13 points and Schuringa added 10. Lauren Gehrke and Jordyn Strube added 8 points apiece.
Kayla Quigley scored 6 points to lead IMSA, which had just five girls available to play.
