Grant wraps up share of NLCC title

Grant's girls basketball team defeated host North Chicago 62-38 on Saturday to earn a share of the Northern Lake County Conference championship.

The Bulldogs and Grayslake Central both finished 13-1 in the NLCC.

Grant (22-7) takes a nine-game winning streak into the state tournament. The Bulldogs are seeded 10th in the Class 4A Fremd sectional and will play No. 7 Lake Zurich (16-10) at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grayslake North.

North Chicago finished 0-14 in the NLCC.

Maine West 67, Vernon Hills 20: The visiting Warriors clinched the Central Suburban League North Division championship outright.

Maine West (26-1) finished 10-0 in the CSL North.

Vernon Hills (17-10, 8-2) played without leading scorer and rebounder Kayla Caudle and freshman guard Daniella Jarrell. Caudle and the Cougars' other juniors were taking the ACT. Jarrell missed the game with the flu.

Senior guard Nicole Pieper scored 6 points for Vernon Hills.
