Wauconda's Tylka earns MVP distinction

Wauconda junior forward Allie Tylka has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent high school girls basketball performances.

Allie Tylka, Wauconda: A varsity starter since her freshman year, the 6-foot junior forward has taken her game to another level this season. In three games last week, Tylka totaled 80 points, 38 rebounds, 11 steals, 9 blocks and 7 assists. She had 27-point performances against North Chicago and Highland Park, and racked up 26 points and 18 rebounds vs. Grayslake North.

Tori Henning, Aurora Christian: This 5-foot-8 junior guard enjoyed a memorable week, starting with a career-high 31 points on 13-for-17 shooting with five 3-pointers, 5 assists and 5 steals against Christian Life. She followed with 20 points vs. Westminster Christian, then reached 1,000 career points in a win over Alden-Hebron when she also had 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocked shots and 2 steals. Henning joined Rachel Thompson and Alyssa Andersen as the only Aurora Christian players with 1,000 points. She capped a 4-0 week for the Eagles with a game-high 13 points and 9 rebounds in a win over IC Catholic Prep.

Taylor Huff, Glenbard West: The 6-foot-2 sophomore post player led the Hilltoppers to three victories, running their winning streak to 18 games and clinching a share of their first West Suburban Silver championship since 2006 in the process. She scored 38 points over the three games and had 23 rebounds during the week.

Allison Pearson, Maine West: The senior point guard scored a career-high 21 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals to help lead the Warriors past state-ranked Marist 77-50 in the penultimate home game of her four-year varsity career. Pearson fired home back-to-back 3-pointers in the second quarter of the Warriors' 23rd win in 24 games.
