Warren's Dickson earns MVP honor

Warren senior guard Kaylen Dickson has earned Daily Herald MVP honors for her recent high school girls basketball performances.

Kaylen Dickson, Warren: The four-year varsity player had one of the best games of her career in a first-place showdown against Stevenson, showing off the skills that made her a member of Wake Forest's recruiting class. A 5-foot-11 guard, she scored 28 points, including a 3-pointer, grabbed 12 rebounds and collected 3 steals, as the Blue Devils won 46-27 for their sixth win in a row.

Greta Kampschroeder, Naperville North: The 6-foot freshman guard led the Huskies to three DVC victories and nearly helped them upset top-ranked Montini. Over the four games she totaled 68 points, 20 rebounds, 19 steals, 6 assists and 3 blocks. Against Lake Park she hit the 3-pointer in the last minute to give the Huskies the lead for good.

Kendra Lindell, Palatine: Lindell hit the biggest shot of her career, a 16-footer with one second left, to lift Palatine past Fremd 43-42 and keep the Pirates tied for first in the Mid-Suburban West. On top of that, the 5-foot-8 senior also played stellar defense and handed out 5 assists as the Pirates improved to 17-6.

Kathryn Schmidt, Burlington Central: This 6-foot sophomore started her week with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots in a win over Huntley, then had 17 points and 9 rebounds as Burlington Central defeated Belvidere North to win the consolational title at the DeKalb MLK Classic. Schmidt also scored 11 points in a win over Marengo and had 16 points and 14 rebounds leading the Rockets past South Elgin 54-34 to complete a 4-0 week.
