Warren turns back Libertyville's challenge

Kaylen Dickson scored a game-high 24 points, and Warren's girls basketball team escaped Libertyville with a 54-53 win Tuesday night, keeping the Blue Devils in sole possession of first place in the North Suburban Conference.

Jordyn Hughes added 14 points for Warren (18-5, 9-1), which has won seven in a row and 12 of its last 13 games. Dickson sank a pair of 3-pointers, as the Blue Devils completed a sweep of the Wildcats in NSC play.

Margaret Buchert had 18 points (three 3-pointers) for Libertyville (11-11, 5-5). Lydia Crow (12 points, two 3s) and Morgan Manski (10) also scored in double figures for the Wildcats.

Libertyville outscored Warren 19-9 in the fourth quarter.

"We never quit," Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen said. "Warren is a great team."

Lake Forest 30, Stevenson 27: The visiting Scouts avenged an early-season loss in the North Suburban Conference game.

Klaire Steffens had 11 points for Stevenson (12-10, 7-3).

Halle Douglass had 12 points for Lake Forest (8-2 NSC).

Lake Zurich 47, Waukegan 32: McKenna Zobel scored 15 points, and the visiting Bears completed a season sweep of the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Conference game.

Maddy Piggott added 8 points for Lake Zurich (12-9, 7-3). Anna Biergans and Ella Gilbertson had 6 points each in the win.

Grayslake Central 49, Antioch 40: Ania Barnes scored 15 points, and the host Rams won again in Northern Lake County Conference action.

Jordyn Gosell and Rosie Drevline added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Grayslake Central (16-7, 9-1), which also beat the Sequoits earlier in the season.

Rachel Phillips had 14 points for Antioch (9-14, 4-6).
