North Chicago pulls away; Carmel edges out St. Patrick

North Chicago's boys basketball team overcame a slow start on its home court to defeat Antioch 78-46 in Northern Lake County Conference action Friday night.

North Chicago improved to 6-0 in the NLCC.

Antioch (7-9, 2-4) led 13-9 after one quarter but got outscored 27-10 in the second quarter. The Warthawks extended their 36-23 lead at halftime to 56-32 after three.

Carmel 47, St. Patrick 44: The visiting Corsairs prevailed in the East Suburban Catholic Conference game to improve to 14-7 and 2-2 in the ESCC.

St. Patrick fell to 2-2 in conference.

Deerfield 41, Vernon Hills 23: Senior Luke Perlin scored a team-best 12 points but host Vernon Hills (5-13, 0-5) came up short in Central Suburban North play.
