Hoffman stuns Fremd 49-39

Hoffman Estates 49, Fremd 39: Senior guard Tayler Williams scored a game-high 20 points with five 3-pointers to help lead Hoffman Estates to one of its biggest Mid-Suburban West wins under the four-year tenure of girls basketball coach Mike Koester.

The visiting Hawks stunned seven-time defending West champion Fremd 49-39 as junior Raven Wilson added 13 points and sophomore Nora Thomas 7.

It was the second straight loss in the West for Fremd (14-10, 4-2), which had a 46-game winning streak in the conference snapped by Barrington two weeks ago.

Fremd is now tied with Palatine and Conant for first place in the West.

"We did a great job executing our game plan and playing a complete game on both sides of the ball," said Hawks coach Mike Koester, whose team (9-12, 1-4) won its fourth straight game. "We really seem to be coming together at the right point of the season."

Freshman Ruthie Montella (14 points) and Emily Klaczek (9 points) paced Fremd.

Prospect 44, Elk Grove 37: Junior Ashley Adams (17 points), senior Emily Frasco (10 points) and senior Sara Biesterfeldt (8) led the offense for host Prospect (10-8, 4-2) in the MSL West win over visiting Elk Grove (11-11, 2-4), which was led by freshman Isabella Tierney (15 points).

"We got a win against a great team," said Prospect coach Gabrielle Lovin. "I am proud of how we played defense. We are developing different aspects of our game and hopefully we can peak at the perfect times."

Rolling Meadows 51, Buffalo Grove 42: Bridget Rolla (16 points), Melissa Spiwak (12) and Lily Greifenstein (10) all reached double figures for the host Mustangs (15-7, 5-1) in the MSL East contest

Kendra Lee paced BG (4-17, 0-6) with 11 points while teammates Macy Floro and Heide Schmit each added 9.

Schaumburg 32, Barrington 25: Sophomore Talia Torosian (two 3-pointers) scored 9 points for visiting Schaumburg while senior Emma Aguilar (two 3-pointers) and junior Ariana Doroskin added 6 apiece as the Saxons improved to 2-4 in the MSL West.

Tess Conforti (8 points) and Rachel Mori (6) led Barrington (7-13, 3-3).

"We struggled to get the ball to drop," said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro. "Schaumburg played some nice defense and we shot about 16 percent from the floor. We just couldn't finish.

"I was happy with our own defensive effort but then we have to convert on the other end, and we struggled with that. Rachel Mori worked hard all game long and Tess Conforti played well at both ends for us."

Maine West 71, Highland Park 19: Visiting Maine West (21-1, 7-0) rolled to the CSL North triumph behind Allison Pearson (14 points, 4 assists), Vanessa Reyes (10 points), Catherine Johnson (9 points, 4 assists), Rachel Kent (8 points) and Alisa Fallon (8 points). Pearson and Fallon each had a pair of 3-pointers.
