Buffalo Grove wins fifth straight

Buffalo Grove's boys basketball team stayed hot on Saturday.

The Bison scored a 56-52 victory over DuBuque Hempstead, the seventh-ranked team in Iowa, in action at Loras College in DuBuque.

Caleb Mayhorn led the scoring effort for Buffalo Grove (12-7) with 17 points.

Coach Keith Peterson lauded his team's "great execution down the stretch and great effort against a very talented team."

Mac Camardo contributed 15 points, Jack Vaselaney had 13 and Tom Trieb had 11 as the Bison won their fifth straight game.

St. Viator 67, Lakes 45: The Lions rolled to a victory in the Cahill Gymnasium to complete pool play in Loyola's MLK tournament. St. Viator (13-3) went 2-1, with wins over Mather and Lakes and a loss to Loyola.

Palatine 58, Maine East 49: The Pirates got their day started nicely at Lake Zurich's MLK tournament, as Johnny O'Shea scored 17 points in an early afternoon matchup to lead the way for Palatine.

David Balanganayi contributed 11 points and Lamon Berry 10.
