Conant returns to home court with decisive victory
Conant's boys basketball team enjoyed being back on its home floor for the first time since Dec. 8 as the Cougars rolled to a 72-47 victory over Elk Grove in a Mid-Suburban League divisional crossover on Tuesday.
It's the first time this season Conant has scored in the 70s.
Ryan Davis led the way for Conant (12-5) with 27 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 assists.
Raj Mittal (12 points, 2 assists) and Ben Schols (11 points, 4 assists) also scored in double figures, and Joe Arriage contributed 6 points and 6 assists.
Elk Grove (1-15) was paced by 13 points from Dylan Ingebrigtsen.
All the MSL boys teams return to intra-division play on Friday, as the first game (at 6 p.m.) of same-site doubleheaders with the girls programs.
In the MSL West, it's Barrington at Fremd, Hoffman Estates at Conant and Schaumburg at Palatine. In the East, it will be Elk Grove at Buffalo Grove, Prospect at Wheeling and Hersey at Rolling Meadows.
Barrington 57, Rolling Meadows 40: The host Broncos won for the sixth time in the last seven games and improved to 12-3 this season, while Rolling Meadows slipped to 5-9.
Schaumburg 56, Hersey 41: The Saxons got a 29-point outburst from Michael Hodges and Heze Trotter had 12 to help Schaumburg (6-12) past the Huskies (5-11).
Leyden 65, Elmwood Park 41: The Eagles (8-6) won for the fourth time in their last five by picking up a nonconference victory at home.
