Victories for Maine West, St. Viator

Maine West's boys basketball team won for the eighth time in its last nine games on Friday.

The visiting Warriors rolled by Vernon Hills 84-42 in Central Suburban North play.

Maine West improved to 9-5 overall.

Senior guard Julian Dones led the way for Maine West with a game-high 28 points. Jack Collins had 15 and Milos Dugalic also reached double figures with 12 points.

The top scorers for Vernon Hills were junior Tony Brown and senior Payton Foster with 9 points apiece.

St. Viator 72, Marian Central Catholic 51: There was no shortage of scoring as the visiting Lions returns to East Suburban Catholic Conference play with a resounding win.

Peter Lambesis led St. Viator (11-3, 3-0) with 20 points. Julian Hernandez had 15 and Connor Kochera 10.

The Lions scored 21 points in the first quarter and had scored 66 points by the end of the third quarter. Lambesis, Hernandez and Kuchera produced all of their points in those first three periods.
