Geneva headed to Montini semis

Stephanie Hart scored 17 points and Margaret Whitley added 14 Thursday night to lead the top-ranked Geneva girls basketball team to a 55-26 win over Marian Catholic in the second round of the Montini Christmas Tournament.

The Vikings (12-0) will take on Proviso East in Friday's 6:45 p.m. semifinal.

Harvest Christian 60, Timothy Christian 38: Alyssa Iverson scored 26 points to lead the Lions (9-2) into the semifinals of the Lisle Holiday Cage Classic where they will play Rosary on Friday. Elena Porrata added 13 points to the win and Grace Ringel had 10.

Rosary 36, St. Edward 35: The Royals (11-3) snapped St. Edward's 8-game winning streak and advanced to the semifinals at Lisle. Sophia Kramer led Rosary with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals, Sydney Drozdowski added 7 points and 2 blocked shots, and Riley McCue and Zoe Ketterman both scored 6 points. Madison Knott led St. Edward (8-3) with 10 points. Mariel Franco added 9 and Yssa Sto. Domingo had 8.

Belvidere North 40, Burlington Central 36: In the semifinals at the Dixon Christmas Tournament, Kathryn Schmidt led BC with 11 points. The Rockets (12-2) will play for third place on Friday.

Burlington Central 46, Freeport Aquin 32: In their first game of the day at Dixon, the Rockets got 12 points and 11 rebounds from Kathryn Schmidt and 12 points from Elena Wells to advance to the semifinal round. Lily Moretti added 8 points for BC.

Dundee-Crown 46, Resurrection 33: Freshman Gianine Boado had 13 points and 7 rebounds while freshman Alyssa Crenshaw added 11 points to lead the Chargers (10-5) at the 35th Annual Komaromy Charger Classic at D-C. Katelyn Skibinski added 10 points and Cassidy Randl had 7 rebounds for D-C, which will play Hampshire for the consolation title on Friday.

Hampshire 59, Prospect 50: Freshman Kelby Bannerman scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Whip-Purs (7-9) into the consolation title game on Friday against host Dundee-Crown at the Komaromy Charger Classic. Lauren Herrmann added 12 points for the Whips.

St. Charles North 59, Buffalo Grove 45: Anna Davern had 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the North Stars (8-6) to their first win at the Komaromy Charger Classic. Megan Gunnick added 17 points for SCN and Annie Tate scored 12.

South Elgin 47, Barrington 44: Also at D-C, Casey Brennan had 14 points and Megan McClure 13 to lead the Storm (5-6) to the win.

Kaneland 45, Champaign Central 37: At the Decatur Eisenhower tournament, Jamie Martens led the Knights with 13 points while Abby Peeler had 10 and Jenni Weber 9.

Kaneland 61, Tolono Unity 45: In the Knights' second game of the day, Jenni Weber (14 points) hit four 3-pointers to break the school career record for 3s with 203. Jamie Martens added 16 points and Bree Kygos had 8 for Kaneland (15-2).

Rolling Meadows 57, Cary-Grove 47: At the Libertyville tournament, Katie Sowa led C-G (8-7) with 12 points. Maddie Jannusch added 9 for the Trojans and Vanessa Morris had 8.

Oak Park-River Forest 42, Huntley 29: Kamsi Nwogu had 16 points for Huntley (1-11) at the Montini Christmas Tournament.

Hinsdale Central 50, St. Charles East 39: At Wheaton North's Falcon Classic, Sara Rosenfeldt scored 13 points and Nicole Jordan added 12 for St. Charles East (6-9).

Bartlett 60, Palatine 54: Also at Wheaton North, Kayla Hare had 24 points, 4 rebounds and 6 steals to lead Bartlett (8-6). Lexie Sinclair added 12 points, 4 rebounds and 3 steals for the Hawks while Justina Hernandez had 8 points.

Jacobs 46, Elgin 28: In another game at Wheaton North, Elizabeth Schwartz and Kyra Cabusao had 12 points each and Kerri Healy added 11 to lead Jacobs (5-8). Dajha Cooper with 8 points and Kylie Graves with 7 paced Elgin (0-16).
