Bombs away for Boock, Barrington at Jacobs
Guard Jason Boock drained seven 3s and finished with a career-high 35 points to power Barrington's boys basketball team to a 2-0 start in pool play at Jacobs' Hinkle Holiday Classic on Saturday.
The Broncos rolled past Cary-Grove 68-46. It was an 11-point lead at the half before Barrington (8-2) held the Trojans to 2 points in the third quarter.
That same third quarter was Boock's best. The 6-foot-3 junior had three 3s, two 2-point goals and 2-for-2 at the foul line for a 15-point output. He also had 5 points in the first quarter, 8 in the second and 7 in the fourth.
Senior guard Anthony Spann finished with 9 points for Barrington, and Miles Lester, Jack Reinhard, Jake Parsons and Braden Albertson had 5 apiece.
Barrington is the only squad in its four-team pool to have two wins. The Broncos complete pool play Tuesday with a matchup against Lakes before meeting up with teams from the other pools on Wednesday and Thursday.
Glenbard South 63, Leyden 42: The Eagles slipped to 4-5 after dropping their tournament opener on Saturday at Glenbard West.
Leyden returns to the tourney with a 3 p.m. Tuesday game against Lake Park before concluding pool play with a 7:45 p.m. Wednesday matchup against Glenbard West.
The last day of the tournament is Thursday and features matchups between the first- through fourth-place finishers from two pools.
