West Aurora's Donatlan merits MVP selection

West Aurora senior Camron Donatlan has earned Daily Herald MVP acclaim for his recent boys basketball performances.

Camron Donatlan, West Aurora: This 6-foot-3 senior will compete in football and track next year at Wyoming, but he spent last weekend reminding folks he's pretty good at his "third" sport. The starting guard and leading scorer for the Blackhawks - who happens to be the reigning Class 3A high jump state champion - keyed West Aurora's sweep of weekend road games. Donatlan scored a team-best 28 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a 68-61 overtime victory at Glenbard East on Friday. The following night he tied for team honors with 17 points in a 65-53 win at St. Charles North.

Antonio Crews, Grayslake Central: The 6-foot junior guard guesses he's grown about half a foot since he entered high school. His game on the court continues to grow, too. The second-year varsity player erupted for a career-high 25 points in a 58-49 win over Vernon Hills. He then duplicated the feat, as his 25-point effort led the Rams to a 66-57 victory over Lake Zurich.

Josh Sorenson, Wheaton North: Sorenson was a model of consistency while helping Wheaton North win a pair of DuPage Valley Conference games. The 6-foot-7 senior forward scored 16 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 6 shots in a 55-49 win over Neuqua Valley. Sorenson added 16 points and 7 rebounds in a 56-55 victory over Metea Valley.

David Swedura, Prospect: It was a heck of a weekend for Prospect, and their senior guard led the way. He had a game-high 22 points with a pair of 3s as the Knights took control of the MSL East race with a 62-47 victory Friday at Buffalo Grove, and Swedura followed up with a game-high 16 as Prospect topped a quality Stevenson team 60-43 on Saturday.
