O'Shea, Palatine handle Glenbard East
Palatine's boys basketball team held visiting Glenbard East to 6 first-quarter points and sprinted to a 38-20 halftime lead before claiming a 57-42 victory Saturday in nonconference play.
Pirates senior Johnny O'Shea was a first-half force, scoring 13 of his game-high 17 points over the first two quarters.
Cortez Hogans and Luke Garrett both finished with 8 points and Basa Balanganayi had 6 for the Pirates, who won their second game of the weekend and their third straight while improving to 7-3.
Glenbard East (5-4) got 14 points (including four 3s), from Alijah Nelson, and DaRon Hall finished with 11 points.
Hinsdale South 48, Conant 45: Conant came close in a nonconference matchup Saturday night in Darien, but Billy Durkin's 3 at the buzzer lifted Hinsdale South to a 48-45 victory in nonconference play.
Ryan Davis finished with 23 points to lead the Cougars (6-4), and Anthony Wachal had 10.
Hinsdale South (8-2) was led by 17 points from Ramon Norman and 15 from Zion Griffin.
Fremd 60, Notre Dame 43: The host Vikings picked up a decisive nonconference victory against a team it could see in the upcoming Hardwood Classic at Wheeling.
Fremd (8-2) salvaged a weekend split, while Notre Dame slipped to 4-5 overall.
