Klaczek's 24 points leads Fremd to win

Fremd's girl basketball team earned its first win at the Benet Academy tournament with a 46-35 win over Oak Park-River Forest on Saturday night in Lisle.

Sophomore Emily Klaczek led the Vikings (10-5, 1-2 in the tourney) with a game-high 24 points, that included 8-of-9 free throw shooting.

She also had 9 rebounds and 2 assists.

Freshman Ruthie Montella (9 rebounds) added 7 points and sophomore Olivia Hill (5 rebounds) had 6 for the Vikes.

Sophomores Caroline Cochran (3-pointer, 2 assists) and Maddy McCarthy each chipped in 4 points.

Freshman Grace LaBarge had 3 rebounds for Fremd while seniors Danielle Lovelace and Colleen Kennedy had 2 apiece.

Hoffman Estates 39, Round Lake 33: Junior Kate Mongold (13 points) and senior Tayler Williams (11 points) were top scorers for Hoffman (3-8) in its second win at the McHenry Invite.

Sophomore Nora Thomas added 7 points for Hoffman.

Glenbrook South 53, Conant 42: Senior guard Cate Fitzgerald connected for five 3-pointers (15 points) to lead host Conant (2-9) in the nonconference game. Junior Abbey DiSalvo added 8 points and junior Stephanie Mazurek 7 for the Cougars, who also received 3-pointers from seniors Taylor Cyr and Lauren Murphy.
