Fremd goes to 2-0 in MSL West
Playing a rare Monday night Mid-Suburban West girls basketball game, Fremd became the first team in the conference to win two games with a 49-43 win at Schaumburg.
Sophomore Emily Klaczek made a pair of 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 to points to lead the way for the defending West champs (6-3, 2-0).
Classmate Caroline Cochran went 3-for-3 on 3-point tries and finished with 11 points.
Top scorer for Schaumburg (0-8, 0-2) was Emma Aguilar, who had 9 points as well as 3 assists.
Ariana Doroskin finished with 8 points and 5 rebounds while Kendall Fredrickson had a team-best 8 rebounds and also contributed 6 points and 2 assists for the Saxons.
Wheeling 82, Maine East 44: Wheeling junior Christina Pierini (four 3-pointers) fired home a career-high 20 points while sophomore teammates Morgan Collar and Chloe Drozdz also hit career-highs with 16 points in Park Ridge.
Nosa Igiehon added 12 points and Nansy Velev chipped in 7 in the nonconference win that raised Wheeling's record to 6-2.
