Bartlett's Hare earns MVP selection

Bartlett senior guard Kayla Hare has earned first Daily Herald MVP honor of the girls basketball season for her recent performances.

Kayla Hare, Bartlett: This senior guard reached two milestones at Naperville Central's season-opening Tipoff Tournament. The Missouri-St. Louis recruit surpassed 1,000 career points in a 77-55 win over Rockford Auburn. She also broke the school record for career 3-pointers at the tourney, now with 144. Hare averaged 20.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 5 steals at the tournament including games of 22, 34 and 28 points.

Alisa Fallon, Maine West: In addition to grabbing rebounds, handing out assists and making steals, Fallon scored in double figures four times in Maine West's five wins at the fifth annual Pilgrim Classic at Hoffman Estates. The senior guard had a season-high 15 points against Hoffman Estates, 13 against Lake Park (championship game), 12 against St. Charles North and 11 against Hampshire as the Warriors' average margin of victory en route to a second straight title was 52.8 points.

Jordyn Hughes, Warren: An all-area player since her freshman year, the 5-foot-7 senior guard continues to raise her game. She averaged 20.4 points in five games and surpassed 1,300 career points in the Blue Devils' season-opening tournament hosted by Niles North. She poured in 24 points in a come-from-behind win over Taft.

Jayla Johnson, WW South: The senior post player was named tournament MVP after leading the undefeated Tigers to the Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament championship. Johnson averaged 16.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 steals a game in five games. She also surpassed the 1,000 varsity points milestone.
