Weber's 31 help Kaneland stay unbeaten
Jenni Weber scorched the nets for 31 points Tuesday night to lead the Kaneland girls basketball team to a 67-59 win over Rochelle in the Northern Illinois Big XII East opener.
Jamie Martens added 10 points for the Knights (4-0, 1-0) while Abby Peeler had 8 points and 5 rebounds and Keely Noel 9 rebounds.
Hampshire 46, Jacobs 38: Freshman Kelby Bannerman scored 13 points Tuesday to lead Hampshire to a win over Jacobs in the Fox Valley Conference season opener for both teams. Lauren Herrmann added 11 points for the Whip-Purs (3-3, 1-0). Kerri Healy had a game-high 21 points for Jacobs (1-4, 0-1) and Liz Schwartz added 8.
Dundee-Crown 44, CL South 28: Freshman Gianine Boado and senior Kennedy White had 11 points each as Dundee-Crown (3-2, 1-0) won its FVC opener. Lauren Schoen led Crystal Lake South (1-4, 0-1) with 15 points.
Geneva 70, Streamwood 35: In the Upstate Eight River opener, Maddy Yelle had 14 points to lead Geneva (6-0, 1-0). Adding to the balanced scoring for the Vikings were Margaret Whitley with 10 points, Madison Mallory with 10 and Lindsay Blackmore with 9. Mandy Mien led Streamwood (0-5, 0-1) with 10 points and Andrea Bracy added 9.
Harvest Christian 67, DeKalb 31: In nonconference action, Alyssa Iverson (13 points), Grace Ringel (12) and Isamar Garcia (11) led Harvest Christian (4-1).
Rockford Christian 35, Westminster Christian 25: Keely Frens had 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals while Johannah Siers added 6 points for Westminster in this Northeastern Athletic Conference game.
