Dickson hits 1,000 in Warren's victory

Kaylen Dickson reached a milestone with her 1,000th career point, and Warren's girls basketball team opened North Suburban Conference play with a 60-38 win over host Zion-Benton on Tuesday night.

Blue Devils guard Jordyn Hughes led all scorers with 17 points. Dickson, who entered the game with 996 points, added 10, as did sophomore Macy Kocen for Warren (3-3).

Zion-Benton got 16 points from Kayla Kinney.

Wauconda 51, Antioch 46 (OT): Allie Tylka had 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 blocks for the Bulldogs, who rallied from 26-15 down at halftime to win in overtime.

Po Kimbell added 11 points, including 4 of 4 from the foul line in OT, for Wauconda (3-1). Kiley Szmajda scored 8 points down the stretch.

"It was a slow start but the girls came out strong in the second half and picked away at Antioch's lead," Wauconda coach Jaime Dennis said. "We played better defense. We took better care of the ball. We played a much more intense, much better second half."

Antioch fell to 0-6.

Grayslake North 48, Lakes 44: The Knights won the Northern Lake County opener, as Savannah Guenther and Faith Standerski each had 10 points.

Grayslake North improved to 2-4, while Lakes fell to 0-5.

Lake Forest 40, Mundelein 32: Morgan Frank had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks for the Mustangs in their North Suburban opener.

Mundelein dropped to 1-5.

Evanston 72, Vernon Hills 40: Kylie Bunning had 9 points for the Cougars in the Central Suburban League crossover.

Vernon Hills fell to 3-3.

Grayslake Central 50, Grant 35: Rosie Drevline scored 12 points, as the Rams won the Northern Lake County opener to snap a four-game losing streak.

Ally Mahinay had 12 points for Grant.

Round Lake 48, North Chicago 32: Kiara Billups' 9 points helped lead the Panthers to victory in their Northern Lake County opener.
