Larkin falls to Rockford Jefferson; Dundee-Crown 3rd at Sycamore

Larkin's boys basketball team couldn't recover from a big halftime deficit Saturday and fell to Rockford Jefferson 69-58 at the Tip-Off Classic in Rockford.

The Royals (2-2) fell behind 34-20 at halftime and couldn't make up the margin in the second half.

Senior Jalen Shaw led Larkin with 21 points but missed much of the first half in foul trouble. Anthony Lynch added 16 but no other Royal scored more than 6 points.

Myquion Garrett led Jefferson with 26 points.

In the fourth quarter, Larkin kept trying to make a run behind Shaw and Lynch, but Jefferson (3-1) made 12 of 14 free throws and the Royals never got the lead under 10 in the final eight minutes.

Dundee-Crown 52, Sandwich 25: Gabe Bergeron had 14 points and Jack Orndahl 9 as the Chargers (3-1) took third place at the Strombom Tournament in Sycamore. Brad Stec added 8 points for D-C. Bergeron and Orndahl were named to the all-tournament team.

Hampshire 70, Rochelle 54: Collin Woods scored 18 points and JD Shaw added 13 as Hampshire (2-2) won the fifth place game at the Strombom Tournament in Sycamore. Nate Cork chipped in 10 points for the Whip-Purs. Woods was named to the all-tournament team.

Geneva 70, CL Central 66 (OT): At the Crystal Lake Central tournament, Jack McDonald had 27 points and Mitch Mascari 16 to lead Geneva (3-1) to the win.

Hononegah 58, Huntley 46: Cory Knipp scored 11 points for Huntley (1-3) at the Crystal Lake Central tournament. Davis Pasco added 10 points for the Red Raiders and Ryan Sroka had 8.

Kaneland 65, Chicago Marine 42: Blake Feiza led Kaneland (1-3) with 12 points at the Ken Peddy Windmill Classic in Batavia.

Hinckley-Big Rock 56, Elgin Academy 48: In the fifth place game of the Westminster Christian tournament, Jordan Hare had 19 points and Cameron Agno 16 for Elgin Academy.
