Hughes helps Warren rally past Taft

Jordyn Hughes poured in 24 points as Warren's girls basketball team rallied to edge Taft 48-42 in final-round action of the Niles North Thanksgiving tournament on Saturday.

Warren (3-2, 3-2 tournament) trailed 13-7 after one quarter and 23-19 at halftime but outscored Taft 19-6 in the third, as Hughes scored 14 points.

Hughes, who surpassed 1,300 points for her career, finished with six 3-pointers. Kaylen Dickson added 12 points for Warren, and Breleigh Gula added six coming off the bench.

Libertyville 55, Grayslake Central 49: Margaret Buchert canned three 3s in the first quarter and went on to score a game-best 17 points to help the Wildcats to a victory in the Bison Classic at Buffalo Grove.

Lydia Crow finished with four 3s and 14 points for Libertyville (3-2).

Payton Gosell (12 points) and Rosie Drevline (11) led the scoring effort for the Rams (2-4), who earned 27 foul shots but made just 14.
