Steffens stellar as Stevenson sizzles
Klaire Steffens scored a career-high 23 points, as Stevenson's girls basketball team wrapped up the Schaumburg Thanksgiving tournament by beating St. Charles East 43-29 Friday.
Avery King and Kiana Cencula added 8 and 7 points, respectively, for the Patriots, who snapped a two-game losing streak to finish 3-2 in the tourney.
Steffens sank 6 fields and went 11 of 12 from the foul line, including 6 of 6 in the fourth quarter.
Mother McAuley 67, Libertyville 29: At Buffalo Grove, the Wildcats fell behind 10-7 after one quarter and then got outscored 21-2 in the second quarter.
Libertyville (2-2) received 6 points apiece from Margaret Buchert, Lauren Huber and Lydia Crow. The Wildcats wrap up the tourney Saturday with a 1 p.m. start against Grayslake Central.
Maine South 60, Grayslake Central 48: At Buffalo Grove, the Rams dropped their third game in a row, despite 18 points from Kate Bullman.
Jordyn Gosell and Ania Barnes had 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Grayslake Central (2-3, 1-3). The Rams wrap up the tourney Saturday with a 1 p.m. start against Libertyville.
