Davis, Schols powers Conant past Evanston
Ryan Davis and Ben Schols were a force as Conant's boys basketball team improved to 2-1 with a tournament victory at St. Viator on Friday.
Davis finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds, and Schols had 20 points and 8 rebounds as the Cougars handled Evanston 61-54.
Conant wraps up with a 1:30 p.m. Saturday matchup against St. Viator.
St. Viator 65, Highland Park 50: The Lions improved to 3-0 in the Majkowski Thanksgiving tournament they are hosting. To finish 4-0, they'll need to top Conant in Saturday's 1:30 p.m. matchup.
Hersey 57, Douglass 36: Hersey's boys basketball team wrapped up Glenbrook North tournament play with a 57-36 victory over Douglass at St. Patrick on Friday.
Rocco Ronzio paced the Huskies with a game-high 17 points, and Jacob Kluczewski contributed 8.
Hersey finished 1-3 in the tourney.
Lake Forest Academy 64, Elk Grove 33: The Grenadiers remained winless in tournament play after dropping a matchup with the Caxys.
Christian Liberty 62, Danville Schlarman 53: The Chargers got their season started with a victory in the first matchup of four games at Danville Schlarman.
Jesse Castro (game-high 23 points) and Steve Ringstrand paced Christian Liberty in scoring.
Milford 68, Christian Liberty 53: The Chargers fell behind 15-7 after the first quarter in their second matchup of the day at Danville Schlarman.
McHenry 64, Barrington 53: Jack Reinhard scored 12 points for the Broncos, who couldn't overcome a scoring drought in the third quarter while falling short in Crystal Lake Central tournament play.
Jason Boock and Miles Lester finished with 10 points apiece but Barrington (3-1) scored just 7 points in the third quarter and finished 9-for-19 at the foul line.
