Burlington Central to face South Elgin for Strombom title

Zach Schutta scored 21 points and Patrick Mayfield added 14 as the Burlington Central boys basketball team defeated Rochelle 65-41 Friday night to advance to the championship game of the Strombom Thanksgiving Tournament at Sycamore.

Michael Kalusa added 9 points for the Rockets (3-0), who will play South Elgin on Saturday night for the title.

Dundee-Crown 50, Genoa-Kingston 37: Gabe Bergeron had 13 points and Jordan Hairston 12 for the Chargers (2-1), who will play Sandwich for third place Saturday at Sycamore's Strombom Tournament.

Sandwich 60, Hampshire 48: At the Strombom Tournament, the Whip-Purs (1-2) couldn't keep up with the Indians as a 6-point third quarter proved costly. Hampshire was led by Nate Cork's 8 points while Jon Westerlund and A.J. Bishop each chipped in 7 points.

Westminster Christian 55, Hinckley-Big Rock 44: At the Westminster Christian Thanksgiving Tournament, the Warriors improved to 3-0 and advanced to Saturday's championshiop as Ben Versluys led with a game-high 19 points, which included an 7-for-11 clip from the free throw line. Will Kmeciak pitched in 8 points while Jorden Warrener supplied 7 points.

St. Edward 61, Indian Creek 48: AJ Franklin scored 26 points in a Green Wave win at the Westminster Christian Thanksgiving tournament. Will Gaston also had 11 points and the Wave improved to 3-0 en route to Saturday's championship game against the host Warriors.

Elgin Academy 67, Alden-Hebron 45: Jordan Hare dropped a whopping 41 points for the Hilltoppers (1-3), who grabbed their first win over the Giants at the Westminster tournament. Hare drained 17 shots, including 10 in the second half while connecting on 7 free throws.

Streamwood 50, St. Francis 38: The Sabres (2-1) won for the second game in a row at the Wheaton Academy Tournament behind Keenon Cole's 13 points. DeAngelo Flynn added 9 points and Brendon Morton had 7 points in a balanced effort.

York 44, Jacobs 40 (OT): In a defensive battle, the Golden Eagles (2-1) shot just 34 percent from the field and couldn't get by the Dukes in overtime at the Ed Molitor Thanksgiving Classic. Nik Balkcom's 13 points and 3 three-pointers led the way while Ryan Phillips added 8 points.
