Kaneland, Harvest Christian each win

Jenni Weber scored 13 points while Jamie Martens added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists Thursday night to lead the Kaneland girls basketball team to a 72-28 win over Richmond-Burton in the Knights' season opener at the Wauconda tournament.

Abby Peeler and Maddy Wheatley added 7 points each for Kaneland. Katie Colombe had 6 rebounds, Chloe Conley added 4 steals and Hannah Armin had 5 assists.

Harvest Christian 52, Marian Central 48: Alyssa Iverson scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Lions to their third win without a loss at their own tournament. Elena Porreta added 12 points for the winners and Abby Ringel had 8.

Lake Park 48, Hampshire 45: At the Hoffman Estates tournament, Kelby Bannerman had 11 points and 7 rebounds to lead Hampshire (1-1). Ally Cermak had 9 points for the Whip-Purs while Morgan Haefling added 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Maine West 70, St. Charles North 23: Anna Davern had 6 points to lead St. Charles North (0-2) at the Hoffman Estates tournament.
