After scoring 8 points in a 54-19 win over Harvard earlier in the week, Central’s 5-foot-9 freshman forward came back on Saturday and lit up the gym at Richmond-Burton. Holt hit five 3-pointers on 7 attempts, and six in the game on 10 attempts, scoring 21 points and adding 4 steals and 2 blocked shots as Burlington Central won 56-34 to secure the Big Northern East conference championship, the Rockets’ first conference title since 2006-07.
The Falcons’ 6-foot-1 junior forward powered in a personal-high 27 points along with 17 rebounds, keying Wheaton North’s 65-55 overtime win at West Aurora to remain a game back of WW South in the DVC. Earlier in the week Baird had 12 points and 7 rebounds as Wheaton North beat Glenbard East 67-22.
The Chargers won three straight games led by their senior captain. DeCraene scored a team-high 10 points in a 42-35 victory over Immaculate Conception, then totaled 19 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds and 1 steal to help beat Guerin 51-50 and finished with 18 points, 1 assist, 6 rebounds and 2 steals in a 39-37 win over Glenbard East.
A ferocious Fracek played fearlessly. The junior rebounding whiz was never better on the glass than she was against Round Lake. All she did was pluck a career-best 24 rebounds, including 18 on the offensive boards. She also scored a team-best 13 points, as the Sequoits captured a 56-37 victory.
The senior point guard orchestrated the Huskies’ offense to four wins in a span of a week. Weyhrich was an assist machine with 6 apiece in wins over Prospect, Glenbrook North and Elk Grove and 3 against Wheeling. She capped things off with a team-high 13 points in the big 39-22 win over Elk Grove on senior night.
