Three commit to Ramsey's College of Lake County team

College of Lake County men's basketball coach Chuck Ramsey has received commitments from Carmel Catholic senior guard Brian Julien, Lakes senior forward Ian Haflinger and Wauconda senior forward Jarod Stonis.

All three players were selected to the Daily Herald Lake County All-Area team this past season.

Julien flourished as an all-around player for Carmel coach Zack Ryan. He led the East Suburban Catholic Conference in scoring at 15 points per game, while also averaging 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Ramsey likes his ability to lead a team and impact a game in a variety of ways.

"I am very happy to see Brian join our school and team," Ramsey said. "He is an outstanding young man who will bring intelligent and athletic basketball to our team. He can make his teammates better."

Haflinger scored a program-record 42 points in a 74-54 victory over Round Lake on Feb. 10. For the season, he averaged 14.2 points per game with 6 double-doubles.

"Ian brings energy and aggressive play to our team," Ramsey said. "He runs the floor very well and can finish shots inside with contact. We are most pleased to add this high-character man to our program."

A two-year varsity starter for Wauconda, Stonis averaged 17.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.8 steals this past season.

"We are very excited to welcome Jarod to the CLC academic and athletic family," Ramsey said. "He is an outstanding young man who will bring character and unselfishness to our team."
