Deerfield denies Maine West

Deerfield's boys basketball team outlasted Maine West (16-8, 6-4) in two overtimes on Friday night to win the Central Suburban North title outright.

Maine West had a six-game winning streak snapped and could have earned a share of the league crown with a victory.

Deerfield (16-10, 8-2) will visit Evanston for the CSL championship on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Beardsley Gym.

Barrington 47, Hoffman Estates 23: The Broncos improved to 16-9 overall and finished 6-4 in the MSL West, while Hoffman Estates fell to 8-16 and 2-8.

Rolling Meadows 74, Elk Grove 35: The visiting Mustangs won their MSL East finale as senior forward Jared Murphy scored a game-high 26 points.

Liam Brigham also reached double figured with 13 points and Marco Taibi had 8 as Rolling Meadows improved to 12-13 overall and 3-7 in the East.

The top scorer for Elk Grove (1-24, 0-10) was senior Joe Lopez with 12 points - all on 3s.
