Antioch rolls by Resurrection

Ashley Reiser scored 21 points, and Antioch's girls basketball team beat host Resurrection 52-30 Thursday night to capture a Class 3A regional championship for the fourth year in a row.

Erika Gallimore (14 points, 4 rebounds) and Amy Reiser (11 points, 4 steals) also scored in double figures for the top-seeded Sequoits (28-3), who advance to the Johnsburg sectional and will play the 6 p.m. semifinal Tuesday against No. 4 St. Viator (16-13).

Ashley Reiser also had 8 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals against Resurrection, which was the No. 9 seed.

Antioch coach Tim Borries said his team played with some "jitters" in the opening quarter, but the Sequoits settled down in the second quarter behind the play of Ashley Reiser. The senior point guard shot 9 of 9 from the free-throw line. She sank 8 in the second half, as the Sequoits built a 20-point lead.

Taylor Feltner came off the bench to nab 5 rebounds and collect 5 steals, and the defensive pressure of Feltner and Piper Foote held Resurrection's point guard to 4 points.

Fremd 56, Grayslake Central 27: At Barrington, the second-seeded Vikings cruised in the Class 4A regional final.

Fremd advances to Monday's 7:30 p.m. sectional semifinal at Libertyville and will play the winner of Friday's game between No. 3 Stevenson and No. 6 Libertyville.

No. 7 Grayslake Central finished 22-8.
