Batavia, West Aurora win regional openers
West Aurora came from behind to defeat Joliet Central 58-55 Monday in the Class 4A Joliet Central regional.
The 13th-seeded Blackhawks (14-12) will play No. 4 Yorkville in the regional semifinals Wednesday.
In the win over the No. 20 seeded Joliet Central, Skylar Doby scored 19 points, Kayla Battle had 12 points and 7 rebounds, and Kiyanna Rodgers finished with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists and 2 steals.
Batavia 56, West Chicago 29: Alex Piron finished with 4 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 assists and 1 charge taken helping the Bulldogs win Monday in the Class 4A Batavia regional.
The 15th-seeded Bulldogs (9-21) advance to play No. 2 seed Wheaton North in the regional semifinals at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
