Antioch, Grayslake Central share NLCC title
The girls basketball teams from Antioch and Grayslake Central each get a share of the Northern Lake County Conference title after winning their league finales on Wednesday to finish with 1 conference loss.
• Antioch finished up with a 68-51 victory over Grayslake North. The Reiser twins led the way, as Amy had 16 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 2 assists, and Ashley had 14 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 6 steals and a blocked shot.
Erika Gallimore contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds, and Taylor Feltner had a season-high 10 points off the bench for the Sequoits (26-3, 13-1).
Grayslake North (16-11, 9-5) got a game-high 19 points from Savannah Guenther, and Sidney Lovitsch had 15 points, which included three 3s.
• Grayslake Central earned its share of the league title by edging visiting Wauconda 42-35.
Kate Bullman (10 points) and Amanda Larson (9) led the scoring effort the Rams, who improved to 21-7 overall and 13-1 in the NLCC.
Wauconda (13-13, 5-9) got a game-high 12 points from senior forward Mallory Carver and 10 from senior forward Hayley Redmann.
Libertyville 49, Mundelein 40: The host Wildcats produced an 18-point fourth quarter to stay out in front against the Mustangs in a North Suburban Conference finale.
Caroline Frea had a game-best 14 points, which included 4-for-4 foul shooting for Libertyville (16-11, 8-6), and Claire Keefe contributed 13 points.
The scoring for Mundelein (12-17, 4-10) was led by Morgan Frank (11 points) and Sarah Ouimet (10).
Stevenson 34, Lake Zurich 29: The North Suburban champs wrapped up their conference slate with a victory as Madison Wicklund (13 points) and Ashley Richardson (12) led the scoring.
Stevenson improved to 22-5 overall and finished 13-1 in the league.
The top scorer for Lake Zurich (11-16, 7-7) was junior forward McKenna Zobel (12 points).
Lakes 48, North Chicago 24: The visiting Eagles had a winning finish in NLCC play as Natalie Iacopetti and Savannah Sikora both had 7 points and Mia Edwards and Sara Smith had 6 apiece.
"We shared the ball well tonight," said Lakes coach Brian Phelan, whose team improved to 16-14 overall and 7-7 in the league while North Chicago ended the season winless in conference play.
Round Lake 50, Grant 47: The visiting Panthers won for the second straight time, improving to 7-19 overall and 3-11 in NLCC action.
Diane Flade led the way for Round Lake with a game-high 21 points, which included five 3s and a 6-for-6 effort at the foul line.
Ameerah Muhammad scored 14 points to lead the way for Grant (11-18, 6-8).
Warren 77, Waukegan 27: Jordyn Hughes scored 26 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Blue Devils completed regular-season play with the North Suburban win.
Kaylen Dickson added 20 points for Warren (24-4, 11-3).
Bri'Elle Johnson had 10 points for Waukegan (0-14 NSC).
Lake Forest 53, Zion-Benton 47: Grace Tirzmalis (18 points) and Delaney Williams (14) led the way as the visiting Scouts improved to 21-1 overall and finished 10-4 in the NSC.
Zion-Benton, which shot 17-for-64 from the field, dropped to 10-14 and 3-11.
