Huntley stays alive in FVC race

Huntley's girls basketball team stayed alive in the Fox Valley Conference championship race with a 42-30 win over Crystal Lake South Saturday.

Morgan Clausen had 22 points and Abbey Brown added 7 for Huntley (14-12, 9-5), which is 1 game behind leader Hampshire in the FVC standings. Annika Sevcik had 16 points for Crystal Lake South (12-14, 8-8).

McHenry 48, Jacobs 35: Carly Sidor led Jacobs (12-13, 8-7) with 17 points in this FVC loss.

South Elgin 61, Marengo 37: In nonconference action, Grace Franks had 14 points while Emmy McIntosh and Mackie Kelleher added 11 each for South Elgin (19-7).

Kaneland Shootout: Jaz Harmon had 15 points, Anna Davern 14 and Elizabeth Olsem 13 to lead St. Charles North (17-8) to a 62-46 win over East Aurora. ... Jenna Laughlin led Batavia (7-20) with 9 points in a 48-33 loss to Sycamore. ... Skylar Doby had 8 points for West Aurora (11-12) in a 56-27 loss to Marian Catholic.

Ottawa Marquette 53, Westminster Christian 24: Emily Lamp and Elise Van Noord had 6 points each for Westminster in this nonconference loss.
