Big night for Lovitsch, Grayslake North
Sidney Lovitsch became the all-time leading scorer in Grayslake North girls basketball history, Sydney Paez hit the game-winning shot, and the host Knights edged Grant 54-52 in Northern Lake County Conference action Wednesday night.
Lovitsch, a four-year varsity starter, surpassed Kendall Detweiler's record of 1,361 points. Lovitsch and sophomore Savannah Guenther scored 20 and 18 points, respectively, as Grayslake North improved to 15-9 and 9-3.
Paez won the game by sinking a runner in the lane with 1 second remaining.
Grant fell to 11-16 and 6-7.
Marian Catholic 44, Carmel 31: Freshman Katie Lach scored 16 points, but the host Corsairs lost in East Suburban Catholic action.
Carmel (14-11, 2-4) also got 8 points from Daija Pruitt.
Grayslake Central 63, North Chicago 27: The visiting Rams maintained their share of first place with Antioch in the Northern Lake County, as Amanda Larson scored a game-high 15 points.
Grayslake Central (18-7, 11-1) also got 10 points from Lindsay Brust, 9 from Kate Bullman and 8 from Rosie Drevline.
Wauconda 56, Round Lake 42: Katie Rossetti had a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds and added 5 blocks and 3 steals, as the visiting Bulldogs won in Northern Lake County action.
Allie Tylka also scored 14 points for Wauconda (13-12, 5-8) and also had 4 rebounds and 5 steals. Hayley Sutherland contributed 12 points and 3 steals, as the Bulldogs beat the Panthers for the third time this season.
Round Lake (5-18, 2-10) got 16 points from Kiara Billups and 10 from Sam Nicoline.
