St. Charles North's Davern earns MVP honor

St. Charles North junior forward Anna Davern has earned Daily Herald MVP recognition for her recent high school girls basketball performances.

Anna Davern, St. Charles North: The North Stars have been playing their best basketball of the season, winning seven of eight after a 2-0 week. That included a 61-49 win over No. 4 Geneva thanks to 22 points and 11 rebounds by this 6-foot-1 junior forward. She shot 8-of-15 from the field and made two 3-point baskets. Davern followed game-highs of 12 points and 9 rebounds in a tight 37-35 victory at Batavia.

Maggie Bair, Glenbard South: The 6-foot-2 sophomore racked up two double-doubles in two Raiders victories. She had 13 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals against Illiana Christian. She added 11 points, 12 rebounds, 7 steals and 3 blocks against IC Catholic Prep as the Raiders remained undefeated in the MSC Blue.

Kaylen Dickson, Warren: Division I coaches continue to scout the 5-foot-11 junior guard, and she hasn't disappointed. Her 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals helped the Blue Devils edge North Suburban Conference-leader Stevenson 42-40. She then scored a game-high 16 points in a 43-31 win over Lake Zurich.

Claire Gritt, Hersey: The four-year starting senior guard helped Hersey earn its fourth straight 20-win season when she poured home a game-high 26 points in a 72-39 win at Prospect that kept the Huskies perfect at 7-0 in the MSL East. Gritt also scored 25 in a 42-39 loss at Glenbrook South three days earlier.
