Bens, Kutsor pace Lake Zurich's victory

Michael Bens scored 22 points, Ryan Kutsor added 18, and Lake Zurich's boys basketball team cruised to a 63-41 win over visiting Mundelein in North Suburban Conference action Wednesday night.

Neither Bens nor Kutsor played the fourth quarter, as the Bears enjoyed a 56-28 advantage after three.

Lake Zurich (14-6, 3-4) was up 18-7 after one and 39-20 at half thanks to a Bens top-of-the-key-contested buzzer beater.

Pete DiCerbo had 8 points and 10 rebounds for the Bears. Brett Hensley did an "excellent job defensively," coach Billy Pitcher said, holding Mustangs leading scorer Tommy Marcotte to 9 points.

Pitcher also gave credit to Alex Miller, who came off the bench and provided 4 points, 6 rebounds and "solid post defense."

Mundelein fell to 4-18 and 0-7.
