Stevenson nets weekly recognition from Chicago Sky

The Chicago Sky has selected Stevenson's girls basketball team as the fifth weekly winner of its 2017 High School Team of the Week program presented by Robert Morris University Illinois.

The Patriots receive the honor after being nominated for their accomplishments on the court, in the classroom and in the community.

Stevenson was 15-4 through Tuesday and went 7-0 in the first half of North Suburban Conference play. On-court highlights for the group include a runner-up finish at the highly competitive Schaumburg Thanksgiving Tournament and third-place finish at the Dundee-Crown Charger Classic.

The Patriots want to be remembered for setting a positive example for all student athletes, and they demonstrate success in the classroom with an average team GPA of 3.82. The team also serves as positive role models in the community. During the holiday season, the Patriots partnered with Feed my Starving Children in Libertyville and packaged food for children around the world. The team also planned to undertake a "Play for Kay" game this week, with proceeds raised to be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
